New members appointed to the German National Ethics Council
The Federal Chancellor, Gerhard Schröder, today appointed Martin Lohse and Peter Radtke as members of the National Ethics Council.
Martin Lohse’s discipline is medicine, but he is also a philosopher. Currently Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Würzburg’s Julius Maximilian University, he is in demand as an expert by a number of different bodies, including the German Research Foundation (DFG).
Peter Radtke, who has a Ph.D. in Romance languages and literature, is an actor and playwright as well as the author of many scientific publications on disablement issues. He is the founder of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Osteogenesis imperfecta Betroffene e.V. [German Society of Osteogenesis Imperfecta Sufferers], Secretary and Editor in Chief of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Behinderung und Medien [Working Group on Disablement and the Media] (abm) and President of the European Association for Creativity by and with Disabled People (EUCREA).
Martin Lohse and Peter Radtke will take part in meetings of the National Ethics Council for the first time on 12 June and 24 July respectively.
The members of the National Ethics Council welcome the Federal Chancellor’s decision and look forward to working together fruitfully with their new colleagues.
